The Legendary Cat in Japan's Railway Station

In the picture, you can see a cute cat with a uniform cap and custom pet tag (badge). Guess who is she? She is the legendary cat whose name is Tama in Japan.

Could you imagine that she was the 16-year-old stationmaster of Japan's Kishi railway? So unbelievable and surprisingly!! She was famous in Japan and famed for pulling it back in from the brink of financial collapse. But sadly, she has died after eight years of diligent work. Her images plastered over trains and shops.

Back in 200 when little Tama was looking for a job, Kishi's railway station was about to close down. Tama started off easy, greeting passengers and taking naps.

The calico, normally donning a uniform cap and badge, brought far more revenue than expected. In the very first year of her appointment, she earned an income of 1.1 billion yen (8.9 million US dollars). Tourists traveled from all over the country to see Tama, or even just to buy a pen with her cartoon image on.

Tama died in a local animal hospital on Monday after acute heart failure. The news of her death is heartbreaking.

Tama's funeral will be held on Sunday at the station and many are expected to bid farewell to their old feline friend.

What a legendary cat! Although she was died, she will remind forever in people's heart.
