Now I want to share an easy DIY project with you: DIY baby bibs.
Supplies:
- 1/3 yard of covering fabric
- 1/3 yard of backing fabric
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Card
- Scissors
- Tailor's chalk
- Pins
- Sewing machine
- Thread
- Snap or poppers to close the bib
- Hand needle
Instructions:
1. Draw the bib template on the hard card. Cut out the bib template.
2. Fold your fabric in half. Place the template on the fold. Trace the edges using tailor's chalk. Cut the fabric.
3. Repeat former step for all your front and back pieces. You will need two pieces (one front piece and one back piece) for each bib.
4. Take one front piece and one back piece. Place right sides together and pin.
5. Sew the two pieces together with your sewing machine. Sew as close to the edge as possible.
6. Leave a space of 2in (6cm) at the bottom of the bib.
7. Sew around the edge of the bib using a zig-zag stitch to stop the edges from fraying.
8. Clip small notches evenly around all the curves. This will stop the fabric from bunching. Be sure not to cut into the seam.
9. Turn the bib inside-out so that the right side is now facing out.
10. Carefully press the bib flat. Press the seam allowance in the gap you left in step 6. This will make it easier to sew it closed later.
11. Sew the gap closed using a hand needle and thread.
12. Sew on the snaps or poppers using the hand needle. Place one snap on the front of the bib and one snap at the back.
ALL DONE! That is how you make this personalized baby bibs.
