DIY a No-Sew Blanket Scarf

There may be someone who’s always cold around you? Then this is the perfect DIY gift that will keep them warm and snuggly all winter long. This scarf takes a only a few minutes to make and won't cost you a lot of money.

 Materials:

2-1/2 yards of 100% cotton flannel fabric
 scissors
 sewing pin (optional)

When shopping for the fabric, make sure it’s 100% cotton flannel which will slightly fray, the effect you are looking for. Be sure to check out large chain craft/fabric stores for the best prices and research their coupon deals.

 Instructions:

 Step1:

 Cut
Lay the fabric out. You will be cutting from the short ends. Cut about half an inch off of the short ends of the fabric.

 Step2:

 Fray
Sometimes it’s easier to use a pin to help start the fray at the edges. Gently place the pin along the edge and push out a few threads.

Once you get a few threads started, pull them all the way up the length of the edge. Continue to remove more threads.

You can make your frayed edge as wide as you want. A half inch is good to start. As you wash and wear the scarf, some more threads will work their way out—this is normal. If you want to prevent more threads from coming off, you can sew a line along the edge of the fray.

This best part about this scarf is it’s versatility. You can wrap it around your neck as a scarf, drape it like a shawl or use it to cuddle under when watching a movie. It’s the perfect size and thin enough to carry anywhere.
